Opschudding rond executie-foto
In Amerikaanse media is opschudding ontstaan over een foto die een AP-fotograaf in Bagdad maakte. Op de foto is te zien hoe rebellen midden op straat gevangengenomen verkiezingsmedewerkers executeren. Een aantal webloggers met rechts-conservatieve sympathieën heeft een discussie aangezwengeld met als stelling dat de fotograaf (deel uitmakend van "de linkse media") vantevoren op de hoogte zou zijn geweest van de executie, en liever een sensationele foto maakte dan de plaatselijke autoriteiten te waarschuwen.
Associated Press, dat de naam van de fotograaf om veiligheidsredenen verborgen houdt, ontkent ten stelligste deze gang van zaken: "Accusations that the photographer was aware of the militants' plans are ridiculous. The photographer was likely tipped off to a demonstration that was supposed to take place on Haifa Street. But the photographer definitely would not have had foreknowledge of a violent event like an execution."
